What is Assistive Technology?
- Assistive Technology (AT) includes a range of technologies (low and high tech), which enable people to build on their abilities and participate as fully as possible at home, school, work, and in their community.
Who provides Assistive Technology services at HDSD?
- RESNA Certified Assistive Technology Professionals (ATP) analyze the needs of individuals with disabilities, assists in the selection of the appropriate equipment and trains students and staff on how to properly use the specific equipment.
- Jill Severino, OTR/L, ATP
Jill joined Hillsboro-Deering School District in 2001. She is a graduate of Keuka College, NY and brings over 20 years of experience working as an Occupational Therapist. She has experience working in school-based and early intervention settings as well as extensive experience in rehabilitation, acute care, and elderly home settings. She specializes in Sensory Integration Therapy, receiving her SIPT certification in 2003 and CASI certification in 2022. She is a RESNA certified ATP (2011) providing her the ability to provide quality intervention of appropriate assistive technology to increase improved outcomes for students of all ages.
